Korgan
Molten Metal Suit & Hood
350 g/m² Non-Stick MARLAN PLUS.
Korgan is a complete molten metal protective ensemble comprising a jacket, trousers, and a detachable Velcro FR hood that interlocks with the stand collar with zero gap. Containing zero aramid derivatives on its outer face, its 350 g/m² MARLAN PLUS weave (60% CV FR, 20% Pure Wool, 10% Polyamide, and 10% TENCEL™) prevents incandescent molten aluminum and iron droplets from sticking, forcing them to bead and roll off instantaneously.
Verified Accredited Test Reports: Accredited laboratory testing confirmed 357–360 g (D3) molten aluminum resistance, 208–212 g (E3) molten iron resistance, and full retention of mechanical and thermal protection after 50 industrial wash cycles under EN ISO 15797.
Why MARLAN PLUS?
In a foundry environment, non-flammability alone is insufficient. If molten metal clings to a fabric surface, conductive heat transfer burns the underlying skin severely even without ignition. Korgan solves this through fiber chemistry.
MARLAN PLUS: Keratin + Lipid Sheath + 7–9% Cellular Moisture
Within MARLAN PLUS, in its 20% pure natural wool, the keratin matrix, hydrophobic lipid outer sheath, and 7–9% cellular moisture vaporize within milliseconds upon 780–1400°C molten impact to generate a Leidenfrost micro-vapor cushion. This microscopic gas film breaks direct liquid-to-fiber contact so droplets roll off in spherical form in < 1 s contact time. Through the MARLAN PLUS 4-fiber division of labor (60% Lenzing FR Viscose flame barrier, 20% Wool Leidenfrost cushion, 10% Polyamide mechanical backbone, 10% TENCEL™ moisture transport), 350 g/m² Korgan is -61% lighter than ~900+ g/m² leather/aluminized garments.
5.25× D2 / 3× D3 Proof & 50 Industrial Wash Certification
While the EN ISO 9185 D3 threshold is ≥ 350 g aluminum (accredited verification: 357–360 g Al, 208–212 g Fe, > 100 g Cryolite), the Marina Textil extreme pour test poured 1,050 g (~780°C) of molten aluminum (5.25× D2 / 3× D3) in a single discharge—proving zero adhesion and zero blistering on the PVC sensor skin. Flame resistance is fiber-inherent (free of Proban chemical finishes) and endures EN ISO 15797 75°C 50 industrial washes (±3% dimensional stability), paired with 40°C MARLAN PLUS gentle field care.
Electric Arc, EN 1149-2 Induction Insulation & Universal (2163)
Engineered against multi-hazard exposure around induction furnaces, electric arc furnaces, and pyro-process switchgear under Universal (2163) EU Category III Module D quality surveillance. Delivers ATPV 9.0–9.3 cal/cm² and ELIM 7.5–7.7 cal/cm² (IEC 61482-1-1) plus APC 1 (4 kA) box-test protection, alongside EN 1149-2:1997 vertical resistance ≥ 1.78 × 10⁸ Ω and EN 1149-5 antistatic compliance.
Liquid Aluminum vs. Liquid Iron: Specific Heat (cp) & Latent Heat of Fusion (ΔHf)
Although molten aluminum is poured at a lower temperature (~750°C) than molten iron (~1400°C), the thermal energy stored per gram and released during solidification on fabric is far more destructive:
- 🔥 Specific Heat Capacity (cp): Molten Aluminum is 1.08 J/g·K vs. Molten Iron 0.82 J/g·K (Aluminum stores +32% more thermal energy per unit mass).
- ⚡ Latent Heat of Fusion / Solidification (ΔHf): Molten Aluminum releases 397 J/g vs. Molten Iron 247 J/g (+61% higher latent heat release upon freezing).
- 🛡️ Wetting & Thermal Conductivity: Aluminum thermal conductivity (~94 W/m·K) is ~2.7× higher than iron (~35 W/m·K) and aggressively wets aramid/synthetics. Korgan’s MARLAN PLUS surface forms a Leidenfrost gas cushion for zero adhesion at 357–360 g molten aluminum (D3).
Steam Scald Burn Prevention in High-Sweat Shifts
For foundry personnel working opposite high-radiant melting furnaces, one of the most insidious injury mechanisms is Steam Scald Burn. Liquid sweat trapped beneath synthetic or non-breathable fabrics flashes to steam at 100°C (expanding 1,600× in volume) during sudden radiant surges, inflicting 2nd-degree scald burns even when the fabric never ignites.
- 💧 MARLAN PLUS: The hygroscopic fiber core absorbs moisture in the molecular vapor phase and vents it outward before a liquid sweat film forms.
- 🌬️ Dry Micro-Climate: Eliminating free liquid water layers between skin and garment prevents internal steam scalding under sudden thermal shock.
Field Ergonomics: Jacket, Trousers & Velcro FR Hood (01–09 Anatomy)
The neck, nape, and sleeve-torso junctions where foundry and high-temperature pyro-process operators suffer the most frequent injuries are sealed by Korgan’s 9-point Trap-Free (EN ISO 11612 Clause 4.2) garment geometry.
Velcro FR Hood & 95% IR Gold Visor Integration (350 g/m² Standalone PPE)
During molten metal splashes and 900–1100°C preheater cyclone/calciner air-lance blockage clearing, the most critical vulnerability is the neck and nape gap between helmet and jacket collar. Manufactured from the identical 350 g/m² (±5%) MARLAN PLUS non-stick outer fabric, the Korgan Hood locks onto the torso via quick-release FR Velcro.
- ✔️ 360° Neck-Nape-Shoulder Seal: Waterfall-angled shoulder cape overlaps the stand collar to eliminate hot raw-meal/dust and molten droplet ingress.
- ✔️ Helmet & 95% IR Gold Visor Fit: Integrates seamlessly with industrial safety helmets, face shields, and gold-vapor-coated visors reflecting 95% of infrared radiation.
- ✔️ Rapid Egress & Zero Metal Contact: Single-motion emergency FR Velcro front closure with zero exposed metal hardware touching the skin.
- ✔️ Group A & Group B Dual Modularity: Interlocks seamlessly with Korgan Jacket in Group A zones and with Molten Extreme C2 Coat in Group B high-IR zones (~1450°C rotary kiln / ladle pouring).
Korgan Velcro Protective Hood: 360° sealed geometry covering head, nape, ears, and upper shoulders.
Jacket Structural & Trap-Free Engineering (Points 01–05)
- • 01. Stand Thermal Collar & Hood Interlock: Wraps the throat completely and locks onto the Korgan FR hood Velcro with zero gap.
- • 02. Double-Layer Storm Placket: Flame-retardant front zipper is isolated beneath an external double-layer fabric storm flap with emergency quick-opening hidden FR Velcro.
- • 03. Internally Gusseted Cuffs: Adjustable FR Velcro wrist closures with internal gussets overlap glove gauntlets at a downward runoff angle.

- • 05. >30° Slanted Flapped Pockets (Clause 4.2): Zero upward pleats or exposed pocket mouths; side pockets angle >30° with flaps overlapping the opening by ≥20 mm.
Trousers Structural & Visibility Engineering (Points 06–09)
- • 06. Jacket-Trouser Overlap Margin: Extended jacket hem overlap prevents lower-back or waist exposure when bending, climbing, or lancing.
- • 07. Articulated Ergonomic Knee & Crotch Gusset: Reinforced anatomical shaping eliminates fabric tension while squatting, climbing platforms, or maneuvering ladles.
- • 08. EN ISO 20471 & EN 17353:2020 Type B2 Visibility: 50 mm sewn FR retroreflective strips around arms and legs provide 360° biomotion recognition in dark furnace bays.
- • 09. Uncuffed Straight Hem & Waterfall Seams: Trouser hems are strictly uncuffed and turn-up-free, preventing slag troughs while covering foundry boots continuously.
